SAR Safety Management Systems, Risk Management and Management of change - OBSOLETE

Introduction

This course is delivered in cooperation with Search and Rescue International (Ltd).

A 5-day workshop designed to give the student a deep-rooted understanding of the concepts and principles of Safety Management Systems specific to a SAR environment. The course is presented by instructors with first-hand experience in Search and Rescue Operations, Aviation Management and Regulations and Safety Management Systems.

Course Content

To develop a broad knowledge of the fundamentals of Search and Rescue Safety Management Systems.

To become familiar with the methodologies required to successfully implement an SMS in a Search and Rescue Environment.

SAR Tasking Agency staff from MRCCs, ARCCs and JRCCs; NAA (Competent Authority) Inspectors;

SAR stakeholders and staff from:

  • Lifeboat organisations;
  • Mountain Rescue teams;
  • Commercial/Civilian and Military Helicopter and Aeroplane Operators;
  • Cliff and Coastal Rescue teams;
  • Police Forces;
  • Civil Defence;
  • Military personnel with SAR responsibilities

Pre-requisites

Essential:

No essential prerequisites.

Desirable prerequisites:

  • Personnel currently involved with any of the above organisations.
  • Personnel with a desire to become involved with any of the above.
  • Personnel with responsibility for Safety Management Systems.
